How a boudoir session and running helped healing my broken heart

How a boudoir session and running helped healing my broken heart

While it may seem intimidating or uncomfortable at first, many women have found that boudoir photography can be a powerful tool for self-expression, self-discovery, and self-love. In fact, some have even used it as a means of healing during difficult times in their lives, such as a broken heart. In this blog post, we will explore MJ´s journey through hardship and how a boudoir photoshoot helped her find empowerment and confidence.

“On April 1st, 2011, my life changed forever. That was the day my dad was diagnosed with stage 5 colon cancer. As a recent college graduate, I was still trying to figure out my place in the world when my family was hit by a series of tragic events that would test my strength and resilience in ways I never could have imagined.

Watching my dad battle cancer was a gut-wrenching experience, and just a few months later, my mom started showing signs of an undiagnosed illness. Suddenly, I found myself taking care of two terminally ill parents and my grandmother, who required weekly medical attention. It was a daunting task, but I was determined to do whatever it took to help my family.

In the midst of this chaos, I met someone who seemed like a dream come true. We fell in love quickly, and he moved in with me a few months later. However, things didn’t go as planned, and our relationship started to unravel shortly after my dad’s passing. My mom’s condition continued to deteriorate, and she moved in with us in Ohio. My fiancé helped me take care of her and my grandmother, and we eventually became engaged. But things took a turn for the worse when we moved to Colorado, and he became distant and cold.

As I struggled to keep my family together, I started to suspect that my fiancé was cheating on me. My gut feeling proved to be true, and I was devastated when he told me he was leaving me for good. On my 30th birthday, I found myself divorced and alone.

I was lost and broken, questioning my self-worth and wondering how I would ever get through this. That’s when I decided to do something drastic. I signed up for the Paris Marathon, a race that I had no business running. But something about the challenge of it called to me, and I knew it was exactly what I needed to rebuild my strength and confidence.

Training for the marathon was grueling, but it was also incredibly empowering. I found that I was capable of far more than I ever thought possible, both physically and emotionally. When I crossed the finish line in Paris, I felt like I had been reborn.

While in Paris, I had the opportunity to meet Gloria Villa and have a boudoir photoshoot. It allowed me to admire my body and remember that anything is possible, that I am strong and my wounds have healed.

That experience changed me in ways I never could have predicted. Since then, I’ve run two more marathons and am currently training for the Tokyo Marathon. I’ve also been recruited by Amazon to work on their finance team and have been promoted within a year.

But more than that, I’ve found my purpose. I want to inspire others to believe in themselves, no matter what they’re going through. Life can be hard and unfair, but it’s also full of beauty and possibility. If you keep pushing forward, you’ll find your way through the darkness and into the light.

Looking back on my journey, I realize that the worst April Fools joke of all time ended up teaching me some of life’s most important lessons. I learned that I am stronger than I ever thought possible, and that sometimes the biggest challenges can be the greatest opportunities for growth. If I can come out the other side of that dark time, anyone can. So keep going, keep believing, and never give up on yourself.”
